Bangladesh Gas Field Company Limited (BGFCL)


BGFCL derives its origin from Pakistan Shell Oil Company, which was formed in Karachi, Pakistan on May 30, 1956. With emergence of Bangladesh and promulgation of Petroleum Act, 1974 the Government of Bangladesh (GOB) bought all the shares of the Pakistan Shell Oil Company with effect from August 09, 1975. The Company was renamed as Bangladesh Gas Fields Company Limited (BGFCL) on September 12, 1975.


Petrobangla


Bangladesh Mineral Oil & Gas Corporation (BMOGC) was created through the Presidential order #27 on March 26, 1972. The minerals operation of the corporation was segregated and vested with a new organization, Bangladesh Mineral Development Corporation (BMEDC), on 27 September 1972, through the PO # 120. The reconstituted Bangladesh Oil & Gas Corporation (BOGC) was short named Petrobangla through the ordinance # 15 of 22 August, 1974.


Rupantarito Prakritik Gas Company Ltd

Rupantarita Prakritik Gas Company Limited (RPGCL) was established in 1987 as a Company of Bangladesh Oil, Gas & Mineral Corporation (Petrobangla). The Company is responsible for popularizing CNG in transport sector by establishment of a CNG-based transportation infrastructure in Bangladesh and widening its commercial operation.

Power Supply

Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB)


Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) is a statutory body created in May 1, 1972, by presidential Order No. 59 after bifurcation of erstwhile Bangladesh Water and Power Development Authority. BPDB started its operation with Installed Generation capacity of only 200 MW. Installed Generation capacity (June 2014) has increased to 10416 MW.

The Rural Electrification Board of Bangladesh has been providing service to rural member consumers for over 36 years. Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB)


Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) was assigned to manage power transmission system,power generation and power distribution through out Bangladesh before formation of Power Grid Company of Bangladesh Ltd.(PGCB). PGCB was established on the 21st November, 1996 as a fully BPDB owned company with an authorized capital of Tk.10 billion under the Power Sector Reform Program of the Government. PGCB has been running under the Company Act 1994

The electricity supply industry in South Asia started with the commissioning of the first power station in the 1890s. Although a number on small stations were constructed over the next 20 years, these stations were isolated, catering to small distribution networks serving the major urban centers.

Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (WASA)


Dhaka WASA (Water Supply & Sewerage Authority) was established in the year 1963 as an independent organization, under the East Pakistan ordinance XIX. In 1989, the drainage system of Dhaka city also handed over to DWASA from DPHE. Again in the year 1990, Water, Drainage & Sanitation service of Narayangonj city handed over to DWASA
